You might want to include the NavList number from the archive that you are responding to. I am guessing that you are responding to the 8366 posting by James Wilson. You can also reply to just the author but even the author needs the post number to jog the memory or to get re-acquainted with a particular post.

I find that 10" slide rules are almost three places of accuracy which gets 2' accuracy at low altitudes and 6' to 10' at high altitudes when calculating (Hc) altitude. Good enough for most small craft applications when done carefully. Plenty good for azimuth determination.

So far as I can tell, there is no way that you can get 5 decimal places with a 10" slide rule, such as with degres, minutes and tenths of a minute.

For most any calculation where two or three places are sufficient, the slide rule would still work. Re some things, the more they change, the more they are the same, or so it seems.
