The feature is called rattrapante (stop watch, then recover regular time).
This horological feature can be part of a mechanical watch, but tends to drive the watch out of the "affordable" range.
A rattrapante feature is trivial for a digital watch, yet it retains little of the allure and mystery of the mechanical feature.

BTW Do any of our inexpensive Casio/Timex watches have this function? "Stop Clock" not "Stop Watch."
