It appears that I spoke too soon about problems with Ghostview (GSView). There is a new version available https://gsview.en.softonic.com/ that seems to work fine. The program ghostscript has to be installed and a version is available from https://ghostscript.com/.
With Postscript is a low-level language with which it is possible to create precise complex technical and other graphics. For an excellent example of what is can be done see the paper by our late Navlist friend and colleague, Ed Popko, https://navlist.net/LindberghWeems-SecondSetting-Pilot-s-Watch-Updated-Paper-EdPopko-nov-2021-g51514 who used Postscript for the diagrams.

PS(!) Although it's not really relevant anymore I have seen the issues with GSView 4 and 5 discussed online. These version were just hanging at startup and had to be closed via the Task Manager. I saw one user who stated that on the first run a window had opened that required a response but that it was not visible at high screen resolutions. Temporarily lowering the resolution made the window visible.
