I recently completed a compacted version of the modified Martelli time sight tables. They are modified from the originals in that they use the Greenwich Hour Angle rather than right ascension. That is, this version computes the Local Hour Angle of the observer, which in turn allows the computation of the observer’s longitude.
These tables are formatted to be printed out in “booklet” form, using a total of eight 8.5 x 11 inch sheets of paper. Booklet form has 4 pages per sheet of paper (2 pages per side), arranged so that the sheets of paper can be folded, stapled (and/or glued) to form a booklet. See attached photo.
Note that the tables are in two files. One file contains the cover, and can be printed on sturdier stock paper, if you like. The second file has the remaining 28 pages.
You can use Adobe Reader (see https://get.adobe.com/reader/ ) to print out these files in booklet form. This worked well for me, until I upgraded to the latest version of the Mac OS X (Mavericks). Now it prints the pages on the opposite sides of a sheet of paper upside down. There is a work-around, printing “front-side only”, turning over the paper manually (rather than using duplex printing) and then printing “back-side only”. Hopefully this problem is specific only to Mavericks and my printer.
If you use a nicer grade linen paper the booklet turns out quite nice.
For some examples of how to use these tables, I adopted Randall Morrow’s data
