In collaboration with the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., is hosting an exhibit called "Ship, Clocks & Stars: The Quest for Longitude" now through August 23.
I visited the exhibit this afternoon. It contains numerous nautical instruments, chronometers, documents, paintings, etc. on loan from
Greenwich. Most of the instruments and documents are authentic, though there are a few replicas and copies, too.
It's a nice collection, well worth your time if you plan to be in Washington, D.C., over the next few months.

The large format "coffee table" book published in conjunction with this exhibit has numerous high-quality color photographs and what appears to be an excellent text (I haven't finished reading it yet).
