Post a photo of the page in question. Very good suggestion but I am sorry I am not of the internet age and I would not have a clue how do this. Still hoping someone will find a copy of Blewitt Tenth Edition then perhaps they would be kind enough to photograph page 46 so all will be able to view the problem to which I refer.
Also, thanks to everyone else who replied. Before I posted I felt I did understand the problem and this is why the page in the Blewitt book confused me.
