Shot a few sun sights today with my Davis AH and Astra IIIb. Results were good. (Intercepts: +0.7', +0.3', -0.1', +0.3') I think my shots have improved considerably since I started making sure to keep the sun in the center of the scope.
I'm still getting lots of condensation on the glass, though. I've tried using water at different temperatures with no improvement. Removing one glass or allowing air to enter caused too much disturbance on the water's surface.
I'm going to try making a mirror AH. I'll probably start with a second surface mirror and maybe one of those Empire levels. There are a few glass shops in town. Perhaps I can get a first surface mirror made later.
Cheers,
Sean C.
