The AIS data does not support this claim:
'The container ship steered hard to starboard (right) to avoid the warship, but hit the Fitzgerald 10 minutes later at 1:30 a.m., according to a copy of Captain Ronald Advincula's report to Japanese ship owner Dainichi Investment Corporation that was seen by Reuters.'

If they were warning the Fitsgerald then they would have known immediately that there had been a collision yet they travelled on for a half hour towards the east before turning around and they delayed for an hour in reporting the collision to the authorities.
So I'm back to my original opinion, nobody was on the bridge of the container ship.
