My last post on this subject https://NavList.net/m2.aspx/Oblateness-formulas-Stuart-jun-2013-g24359 contained a couple of typos and, although they are relatively easy to spot, to avoid any confusion I would like to set them straight.
First 0.0032 degrees = ( a / R ) * ( e^2 / 2 ) * ( 180 / pi ) and not ... * ( pi / 180 )
Secondly the derivation in the pdf that was attached to the post stated that the direction of the observer from the Earth's center is d = ( 0, -cos v, sin v ). The correct statement is d = ( 0, -sin v, cos v ). This is a simple transcription error in my notes and the correct expression was the one used throughout the derivation. I attach a version of the pdf in which this typo has been corrected,
Robin Stuart
